Sixteen men arrested for vandalising Hon. Patricia Mutheu’s office

Sixteen men have been arraigned in court following claims that they broke into an office belonging to an MCA and vandalised properties valued at Sh230,000.

The accused persons who are said to be football players among them John Kamau Njeri, Augustine Angoya and Alex Kuvisia together with others not before court were said to have damaged the office belonging to Honorable Patricia Mutheu’s property on April 11 in Nairobi.

Police stated that the incident happened in the mid-morning when the said youths stormed into MCA Mutheu’s office demanding to be addressed on joblessness and discrimination.

At the time, Mutheu was not at her office. The youths reportedly threated to destroy everything in sight.

After some time, it is said that the MCA, requested them to write a memorandum addressing their grievances as well as to book an appointment but they started destroying her property accusing her of being rude.

Destroyed properties include two laptops, desks, chairs, cabinet shelves, carpet, mobile phones, and office documents.

The youths were later summoned to the police station where they were arrested and arraigned in court where they pleaded not guilty.

The court granted them a cash bail of Sh20, 000 pending mention on April 30.
