A passenger who was pushed from a speeding matatu after vomiting in the vehicle has sued the two conductors of the matatu.

Edward Riechi claims he escaped death by a whisker after he was allegedly pushed by Tobias Wambua and Kenneth Njoroge now facing attempted murder charges.

The incident occurred on January 27th along Councillor Opondo Road, Nairobi.

Police records indicate that on that day, Riechi was heading home from hospital when he boarded the Dandora mathree.

Riechi, who was unwell, started vomiting inside the mathree, provoking the conductors, who started insulting him.

It is alleged Riechi gave them Sh1,000 to deduct the amount for washing the vehicle, but the two refused to give him change, resulting in an argument. They threw Riechi out of the moving vehicle and he sustained injuries.

Court papers indicate that angry passengers forced the driver to stop the vehicle and rush Riechi to hospital before reporting the mater to cops.

The two were later arrested but they denied the charges in court. They were set free on Sh200,000 personal bond each. The matter will be heard on May 22nd.
