Did two KDF soldiers attempt to rape Coast woman?

  • According to Aisha, the two soldiers allegedly groped her inappropriately, touching her privates
  • Despite leaving the club to avoid further confrontation, the soldiers followed her outside and attacked her

A Muslim woman has claimed two KDF soldiers attacked her after she refused to have sex with them.

The woman, Aisha Mohamed, 19, told The Nairobian that on the night of Idd ul Adha celebrations (September 1), at around 11pm, she was enjoying drinks with her pals at a popular nightclub near the Kenya Defence Forces barracks.

Mohamed claims that two men who were very drunk asked if they could join their table, but they declined.

The men allegedly became violent and started harassing Aisha, who had to call the waiter to intervene.

“They followed us to another table we had moved to and started touching me inappropriately, including my private parts. I had to call the waiter for assistance. The waiter asked them to stop disturbing us but they were stubborn, so we decided to leave the club,” added Aisha.

She reveals that the men followed them outside and attacked her, leaving her with serious injuries on her hands and neck.

Aisha claims that the men took off and she later learnt from the watchmen that the men were KDF soldiers.

She reported the matter at the Nyali Police Station and her case was booked under OB number 03/03/09/2017.

She later proceeded to the Coast Provincial General Hospital for treatment.

Confirming the incident, Kisauni police boss Christopher Rotich said Aisha reported the alleged assault at Nyali Police Station but the case was still under investigation.

“I will get more information from the officer in charge at the barracks about the case. It is wrong for soldiers to attack innocent Kenyans,” he said.

HAKI Africa programmes coordinator, Francis Auma, condemned the act and demanded that the suspects be arrested.
