They were targeting my private parts- Moses Wetang’ula claims teargas almost made him impotent

One of NASA’s principals, Moses Wetang’ula, has narrated gory details of the injuries he sustained when a teargas canister was hurled at the main dais during his presidential bid launch in Kakamega on April 2, 2016.

Wetang’ula left Khwisero sub-county locals in stitches after he revealed that one of the teargas canisters hit him directly in the crotch and left him in a lot of pain, almost to the point of rendering him impotent.

“The teargas caused a stubborn cough that lasted at least two months after the horrifying incident. They had ill intentions by targeting my private parts,” he told the crowd that gathered at Khwisero grounds to hear from him and other Ford-K luminaries present.

He blamed Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya for the attack, claiming the ODM deputy party leader did not want him to launch his presidential bid at the historic Muliro Gardens.

“Oparanya deployed his askaris to barricade the gardens, but our supporters led by Senator Khalwale managed to overpower them to allow us to make a grand entry into the gardens for the function,” he said.

The meeting turned chaotic after teargas canisters were thrown in the direction of the dignitaries who included Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero among other distinguished guests.

However, Oparanya who was accused of plotting the attack and Nasa presidential flag-bearer Raila Odinga were conspicuously missing during the Muliro Gardens meeting.

Wetang’ula and Kalonzo had earlier indicated that Raila would be late for the event. All hell broke loose when Wetang’ula was about to give an acceptance speech after being installed as a Luhya elder.

A teargas canister was hurled at the dais, forcing dozens of dignitaries to scamper for safety. The waheshima’s bodyguards stepped in to protect the politicians.

During the incident, Wetang’ula like other leaders present, was whisked away in a huff while dressed in an elder’s regalia only to emerge moments later oozing braveness.

He wiped his face with a wet piece of cloth and went on to call the meeting to order as supporters started gathering again.
