City MCA spends three days behind bars

A member of  Nairobi City County Assembly spent three days in cold cells after jumping bail.

Maina Njoroge (pictured), the Umoja ward representative, was detained by a Nairobi Court for failing to attend court on charges of incitement.

Njoroge was to appear in court on May 8 for hearing

— which had been adjourned severally due to his absence.

He was also accused of forcefully possessing land belonging to Stanley Kamau.

The MCA is said to have committed the offence on June 13, 2013 at Umoja 1 estate in Embakasi.

Njoroge was detained at Industrial Area Remand Prison until May 12 (today) pending ruling on whether to restore his bond.
