A man wanted by police was arrested after being lured into a trap by a woman.

The suspect, identified as Peter Mokua, had been on the run after he was accused of stealing his girlfriend’s shoes on April 30.

Mokua was further accused of stealing a laptop and a mobile phone, all properties of Alice Damaris. The properties were valued at Sh55,000.

The prosecution said Mokua stole the items after being invited to his girlfriend’s house. He is said to have waited until Damaris left the house shortly before making away with the goods.

The court heard that Mokua could not be reached on his mobile phone. It would however take the effort of Damaris’ sister to lure Mokua into a trap.

The complainant’s sister is said to have won Mokua’s trust on phone, and went on to invite him for a love meeting.

A clueless Mokua had no idea that this was a trap, and that police had been alerted. It was after Mokua showed up to sample nature’s gift that police pounced on him, arresting him on the spot. Mokua pleaded guilty to the charges. The sentencing is set for May 15.
