Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore humbled a quiet village in Baringo late last week when he flew into the remote area to attend the burial of a Safaricom staff member.
Villages were surprised when the philanthropic Safaricom boss, who is also a businessman, flew in as the ceremony was going on.
The staff member, Beatrice Toroitich, had endured a long battle with cancer before her demise.
Villagers pleaded with Collymore to offer the deceased's sister Nancy a job. Nancy is said to have quit her well-paying job in South Sudan a year ago to care for sick sister.
The Safaricom boss promised to consider the request.
