Praxedes Shivachi, a mother of three, is the new Miss Universe Kenya.
The tall and elegant married woman beat 12 other finalists to the title that will see her fly to China to represent Kenya during the global competition.
And the 35-year-old wants Sh500 million funding to fight domestic violence against children and young people. Praxedes, an hotelier and a public speaker from Kiambu, was lost for words after she was announced winner of the inaugural Mrs Universe Kenya contest held at Panari Hotel, Nairobi.
Pierra Mukami from Meru and Rosemary Wairimu from Nairobi took second and third positions respectively. "I feel excited and humbled by this tittle and now I have to embark on the hard work ahead,” said Praxedes.
The event also saw the crowning of Little Miss Kenya. This year’s winner was Vanesa Mugambi. Aloe Njeri took second position while Natasha Kaindu came third.
