Disc jockey Felix Orinda alias Dj Evolve is recovering after undergoing a third surgery.

This is according to Dj Shock, a close family friend, who revealed that Dj Evolve was recuperating and responding well to treatment.

Speaking to the Star, Dj Shock said that he believes the decks master who was shot in the neck at close range at B-Club on January 16, 2020, will make a full recovery.

“He is still recovering but only his mother is allowed to be close to him, other visitors wave from the outside of the glass… He now has movement in his arms. Eventually, his legs will respond as well. I believe, too, he will make a full recovery," Dj Shock is quoted saying.

The High Court two weeks ago ruled that Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino, the man accused of shooting the Dj, cannot be forced to pay for Evolve’s accruing bill at Nairobi Hospital.

Babu Owino, according to Justice Luka Kimaru, can, however, continue footing the hospital bill that as at February 23 stood at Sh6,684,000, on humanitarian grounds.

“The court notes that the applicant’s (Babu) decision to pay for the medical expenses of the victim cannot be compelled through a criminal process unless the applicant admits to the offence,” ruled Kimaru.

In February, Dj Evolve’s family expressed concerns over the ballooning bill and their struggles in offsetting it.

They shared invoices documenting the DJ’s continued fight for his life that included Sh1.6 million doctors’ fee, Sh494,100 for physiotherapy, Sh900,000 for the nursing department and about Sh990,000 room rent.

On January 27, Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi - before he recused himself from the case citing objections raised by the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji -  directed Babu Owino to deposit Sh10 million cash bail in four instalments of Sh2.5 million each for three months to settle the hospital bill.

Andayi’s directive was later overruled by Kimaru who revealed that the MP had so far paid Sh4.4 million to be used in settling the hospital bill.

Sh600,000, according to the judge, was paid directly to the health facility.

Kimaru, thus, ruled that the MP’s Sh4.4million counted as bail and ordered him to deposit Sh600,000 to secure release.
