Diamond Platnumz has been sued for allegedly destroying property worth millions of shillings in a house he had rented to house Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) records studio.

According to Tanzanian press, Diamond is alleged to have rented the house at Kijitonyama, Dar es Salaam, before relocating the studio to its current location.

Reports indicate the singer has been sued for Tsh337 million (Sh15 million) for properties allegedly destroyed and rent arrears.

The landlord, identified as Maulidi Wandwe accused the father of four of failing to pay one year of rent and repairs after vacating his premises.

On March 16, the magistrate handling the case at Mwananyamala Lands courts in Dar es Salaam had to postpone it to a later date after the singer failed to appear in court as he was not in the country.

According to sources, Diamond’s lawyer Gerald Hamisi told the court that the singer was unable to return to the country due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to the lawyer, the singer will return in three weeks.

Hamisi said his client had instructed his manager Babu Tale to work on the case and bring everything to the limelight.

However, Wandwe’s lawyer Felix Buruda told the court Diamond’s absence from the court was meant to frustrate the court process. Buruda argued the singer could have emailed his lawyer and equipped him with the necessary information for the case to take its course.

“The case was first mentioned on September 19 last year and was repeated on 24 of the same month, then on October 24, November 18, on January 6, then February 26, until today, 16 March 2020,” Wandwe said.

Hamisi urged the court led by Justice Laurent Wambili to give him more time to put together all the information he needed for the case.
