Women are undoubtedly an integral part of society. From the miracle of pregnancy and the superhuman gift of giving birth to raising children, their strength is incredible.

In the spirit of equal rights for both genders, activists have been keen to eliminate stereotypes that place ladies in home-making roles and change the narrative to place women in positions of power and policy-making.

The International Women’s Day celebrated worldwide on March 8 is a significant day in the equality movement, aimed at celebrating women’s achievements throughout history and calling for the promotion and protection of women’s rights.

This year’s theme, I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights” brought people of different backgrounds together to drive action that will eventually lead to a gender-equal society.

According to the United Nations (UN), we are still far off from achieving a gender-balanced world as women are still facing tyranny in the home and workplace and regime.

Celebrities across the globe participated in various ways in the struggle for parity, with some marking the day through their social media accounts.
