Six years into devolution, Members of the Nyamira County Assembly still debate and make laws in a building with leaking roofs.

They also have to share one toilet with the rest of County Assembly staff.

The situation was laid bare in the House for the first time by Nominated MCA Abel Mokaya who sought a statement over the state of the entire institution of the County Assembly, particularly the leaking roofs and lack of toilets.

Mokaya’s question sparked heated debate on Wednesday, with MCAs opening up and stating many other inadequacies that hampered smooth execution of mandate by them and Assembly staff.
