Popular Tanzanian singer Rajab Abdul Kahali AKA Harmonize has been making headlines in the past few weeks with speculation that he has exited Diamond Platnumz music record label, Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB).
Rumours of Harmonize quitting WCB were fueled by his absence from the annual Wasafi Festival; the biggest series of concerts in Tanzania.
Although Harmonize has not commented on these allegations, there’s one thing the singer has made clear, and that is his interest in joining Tanzanian politics come 2022.
Konde Boy, as he often refers to himself, is originally from Mtwara Tanzania and since his rise to fame, he has given back to his society.
As a result, the residents have aired their desire for Harmonize to join politics and represent them in parliament.
“Amesababisha hata watu kujua kuna Kijiji cha Mahuta, tunamuomba agombee hata ubunge tunaamini atatuwakilisha vizuri na kutusemea shida zetu za hapa kijijini. Na sisi tunatamani maisha mazuri hivyo Raj akija kugombea tutampa ubunge bila shida yoyote,”one of the villagers said.
Speaking during an interview with Global Publishers, Konde Boy made it clear that he was concentrating on using his music to put Tanzania on the map.
“Ndoto yangu kubwa ni kuwekeza sana kwenye muziki wangu ili ufike mbali na kwenye levo za kimataifa. Huko ndiko ninakoweka nguvu kubwa sana kwa sasa. Kwa hiyo chochote ninachokifanya ni kwa ajili ya kukuza muziki wangu.”
Harmonize further said that he has no plans on joining politics.
“Kifupi sifikirii kabisa kujiingiza kwenye siasa badala yake ninafikiria zaidi kuupeleka huu muziki wetu mbali sana ili uweze kuwa mkubwa zaidi,” he said.
Harmonize is among the most sought after artists in Tanzania nut his life has not always been rosy.
Coming from a poor background and facing rejection many times, Harmonize made up his mind to work hard to schieve his dreams.
Starting as a tea hawker, Harmonize says he is grateful for his humble begins. In his latest hit song ‘Never Give Up,’ the singer highlights every aspect of his life, encouraging the youth to work.
