Saga continues as pastor’s divorce turns nasty

The famous pastor recently declared his intention to divorce Teddy, his wife of 29 years in order to marry Susan, the ‘pretty young thing’ he is already co-habiting with.

There’s no end in sight yet to Kampala’s story of ‘The Pastor and His Wives’. The famous pastor recently declared his intention to divorce Teddy, his wife of 29 years in order to marry Susan, the ‘pretty young thing’ he is already co-habiting with.

We thought it was bad enough that Pastor Aloysius, the exemplary man of God, was ditching the mother of his children.

But after going through the “for worse” bit of their vows as younger people, they are now about to permanently separate from each other during the “for better” bit in adulthood.

Things took a turn for the worse that after the public took side on the divorce, a good number siding with Teddy. Then Pastor Aloysius went public with her sexual/medical history in public, before a huge congregation and the television station that he owns.

The disclosure was meant to draw sympathy to himself, that for ten years he did not get intimate with his wife due to her peculiar illness, which was finally healed miraculously by the gracious Lord.

That is when all public sympathy that was left was heaped onto Teddy and Pastor Aloysius – what a beautifully old religious name – was left looking like Lucifer’s cousin.

But that was not the end. After feminists and any other group you can think of got annoyed with Pastor Aloysius, the worst was yet to come.

The Parliament of the Republic of Uganda, entered the fray and condemned the good pastor. How were the honourable members going to be left behind by this golden opportunity to be on the right side of the global trend – fighting for the dignity of womanhood!

After the national legislature had demonised the pastor, who was left? The very society from which he derives his status – Christianity.

Pastors under their association called an emergency meeting with one item on the agenda – Pastor Aloysius. They concluded also by issuing a strong condemnation against the man.

Can we now conclude that the case is now closed? Not yet.

The case is before the courts of law, where he went to seek divorce. Will the court strictly look at only the merits of the case without being biased by the public, national, religious and legislative outpouring of anger against the pastor?

The court is supposed to be meticulous in looking at the legal merits of the case. That is Pastor Aloysius’ remaining hope. He wants a legal separation from society’s angel, ‘saint’ Teddy.

The woman, on the other hand, maintains that she has forgiven Aloysius and is still praying for him to rediscover Christ’s message and abandon the sins he is allegedly committing with Susan.

Of course, at stake is the share of the wealth, now estimated at over ten million dollars, that the couple has accumulated over the years. And yes, the beautiful multi-storied mansion he recently built for Susan is on the list of the properties that Teddy might take at the end of the case.
