Kenya’s Midas touch in the eagerly awaited Walt Disney animation Lion King continues to reverberate beyond the silver screen.

During Lion King’s premiere in Leicester Square, London, on Sunday, stars including Beyoncé and husband Jay Z, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle waltzed their way to the showing against a backdrop that featured the logo of Magical Kenya.

According to a tweet by Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), the nod at the premiere was a huge affirmation to Kenya’s position as an undisputed home of safari and adventure.

“It was magical in London as the Lion King movie premiered. #TheLionking movie was largely inspired by the diverse landscapes and abundance of wildlife in #MagicalKenya's national parks and reserves. This affirms Kenya as the undisputed home of safari and adventure,” read the post by KTB.

The Disney remake, which is expected to hit Kenyan theatres early next month, was based and shot in Kenya and features a soundtrack with lyrics in Swahili.

Sang by the American pop star, real name Beyonce Knowles, who voices Nala in the movie, the song was released on Wednesday, July 10, and is part of The Lion King: The Gift album.

Speaking to the Huffington Post, the song's composer, Hans Zimmer, explained that Beyonce put in a lot of work and that it was “well-crafted for the scene.”

“She thought about it very long and very hard. It’s really well-crafted for the scene. Every musician has a habit of when they come into the room to play you something for the first time ... We’re all just a tiny little bit nervous how it lands. Of course, everybody’s reaction we absolutely adored it. It was absolutely perfect for the film,” said Zimmer.

Written by Beyonce, Timothy McKenzie and IIya Salmanzadeh, Spirit's audio on YouTube has amassed an impressive 548,000 views in five days.
