R Kelly has been arrested for a string of sex-related charges in the US - including sex trafficking and images of child sexual abuse, as well as enticement of a minor.
The 52-year-old singer - real name Robert Kelly - was under indictment for 13 charges and was taken into custody on Thursday night in Chicago by NYPD detectives and Homeland Security Investigation agents.
The I Believe I Can Fly singer is now expected to be taken to New York to face the 13 federal charges.
"The counts include child porn, enticement of a minor and obstruction of justice," US attorney spokesman Joseph Fitzpatrick told reporters.
He added that details of the indictment, handed down in federal court for the northern district of Illinois, would be released later on Friday.
Kelly's attorney Steve Greenberg confirmed his arrest, but declined to give further details.
It marks the second time Kelly has been arrested in Chicago on sexual offence charges. He continues to deny all the allegations.
In February, the R&B star, whose real name is Robert Kelly, was charged with aggravated sexual abuse involving four women, three of whom were minors when the alleged abuse occurred.
He pleaded not guilty to a string of sexual assault charges and was released from Chicago's Cook County Jail after posting bail.
The Cook County State Attorney's Office had charged him with five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and two counts of criminal sexual assault.
Legal documents seen by TMZ state Kelly is accused of forcing contact between his victim and the alleged victim's mouth and committing an act of sexual penetration.
The alleged incident happened in January 2010 when the alleged victim was under the age of 18.
Kelly's crisis manager, Darrell Johnson, says the singer denied all accusations and maintains his innocence.
A legal representative for Kelly gave a statement to waiting reporters.
He said: "We're with him and that's why we're here today. He's getting ready and that's pretty much all we can say.
"If I was facing 25 years, I'd be depressed, but if I knew I was innocent I wouldn't be depressed, so that's where we are.
"Mr Kelly is performing [...] he knows the truth, we're with him."
R Kelly has denied all allegations.
