Sh3 million raised in two hours towards burial of Nyong’o’s mother

A fundraising ceremony towards the burial of Anyang’ Nyong’o’s mother in Kisumu raised Sh.3.1 million.

Led by the county’s Deputy Governor Dr Mathews Owili, leaders from different entities in the county raised the money in less than 2 hours.

Leaders and various organizations affiliated to the County government gave their contributions at the funds drive that was also attended by Prof Nyong’o.

Among the biggest contributors were members of the Seme community led by politician Leonard Achar that gave cash, bulls, goats, sheep and bags of maize.

Members of the County Executive contributed Sh900,000 while the County Assembly gave Sh100,000.

Officials of ODM contributed Sh107,000.
