High school student's decomposing body found in toilet, parents cry foul

Wycliffe Okio's mother (centre) is consoled by relatives following news of his demise.

The decomposing body of a student at a secondary school was on Tuesday retrieved from a toilet.

Wycliffe Okio, 16, and a student at St Don Bosco Secondary School, went missing on May 19.

School Principal Samwel Mabeya, through OB number 43/3/6/2019, reported Okio's disappearance.

Police in Masaba North sub-county are yet to get any meaningful leads on the disappearance and subsequent death of the student.

According to Mr Mabeya, the body was found after the school's security guard, David Nyambane Onsongo, smelled a bad odour coming from the toilet that is only five metres from his station.

Informed father

Mabeya said he had informed Okio's father, Robinson Mayieka, on what had happened to his son.

Speaking yesterday, a distressed Mayieka said he sensed foul play in his son's death.

"It is a lie that my son died in the latrine. The school administration must explain his death," he said.
