True love is not the cheesy “couple goals” posts – Lilian Muli

What is true love?

According to Citizen TV news anchor Lilian Muli, love is void of all 'fleeting trivialities'.

In a widely shared post on Instagram, Muli denounced acts by couples to ‘flex’ on social media over ‘silly and cheesy’ moments couples share.

“I don’t think most people understand what true love is. It’s not the cheesy “couple goals” posts for Instagram. It’s not the fancy dates, the happy hours, or the majestic nights laughing at silly movies,” wrote Muli.

She emphasised the need for a deeper connection.

“True love is waking up in the middle of the night to help you when you’re sick because I don’t want you to be sick alone. It’s being your shoulder to cry on, to vent to.

“True love is being your biggest cheerleader and toughest critic. True love is looking at each other on a spiritual level, a level so deep, that you can feel them when they’re gone. True love is six little words, 'no matter what, I got you',” she posted.

Her piece comes hot in the heels of a similar love piece by video director J Blessing who opened up on what he believes is crucial when it comes to romance via a popular motivational poem.

In the post, J Blessing posted opined on why extending affection is never an assurance that one will be loved in return and in equal measure.

"It hurts to love someone & not be loved in return. But what is more painful is to love someone & never find the courage to let that person know how you feel. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right ones so that when we finally meet the right person we will know how to be grateful of that gift.

"Love is when you take away the feeling, the passion & the romance in a relationship and find out you still care for that person.

"A sad thing in life is when you meet someone who means a lot to you and later to find out, in the end, it was never meant to be & you just have to let go,” he wrote.
