Olive Mugenda’s message as daughter graduates with Ph.D

Former Kenyatta University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olive Mugenda has congratulated her daughter on attaining a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering.

An elated Mugenda posted on Twitter that she was proud of Angie for her achievements as she graduated at Purdue University - West Lafayette- Indiana, on Saturday, May 11.

Prof. Mugenda told her daughter to use her skills gained from the university ranked as number 56 in the 2019 National University Rankings to transform the society.

“Blessed to attend my daughter's graduation at Purdue University - USA. Congratulations my dear girl, Angie, on attaining your Ph.D. in Astronautical & Aeronautical Engineering. Use your skills to leave a mark wherever you go. You have made me a proud mother. God bless!”

Saturday’s event, according to Purdue, was part of a series of six commencement ceremonies sectioned into divisions that started on Friday 10.

Angie’s fourth division ceremony saw students from Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Construction, Electrical and Computer, Engineering Education, Environmental and Ecological as well as Industrial and Nuclear also graduate.

7,103 students were candidates for degrees, 1,063 were graduate students and 231 students from professional programs.
