Activist Boniface Mwangi has been released after being arrested earlier today by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

The activist was arrested for questioning into an alleged plot to cause civil unrest through a revolution against Jubilee government.

Dressed in a shirt bearing the Kenyan flag, Mwangi is seen greeting supporters following his release from Central Police Station.

Speaking to the press outside the police station, Mwangi’s lawyer stated that the photojournalist will always be available for questioning by security agencies.

“Mwangi will always be available if need be. And we’ve asked that they just give us a call and we’ll avail ourselves,” he said.

In the morning, Mwangi posted on social media that he’d been arrested at his house.

“I haven't been told the reason for my arrest,” he wrote.

The arrest caused an uproar on Twitter with Kenyans calling for his immediate release.
