The long Easter holidays is a much -welcome break from routine for many across the world.

An opportunity to let steam off as they celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ by vacationing with family and friends.

This rush to make the four-day event worthwhile can also, however, get hectic.

What better to relax than by indulging in these must-see movies and television series as you recalibrate your rhythm while unwinding in that rocking chair.

The Passion of the Christ

Being Easter, there is no better movie that puts in perspective the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ than Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ.

This 2004 blockbuster made waves across the Christian world with its superb depiction of Christ’s sacrifice and grossed 611.9 million dollars at the box office having been made with a ‎$30 million budget.

The 2hour 7 minute movie starring Jim Caviezel as Jesus of Nazareth is worth your while.

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones originally aired on April 17, 2011.

The hype surrounding the release of the eighth and final season is enough to let you in that you are eight years late in watching a series dubbed, by some, as the greatest television show of all time.

Get on the ‘winter is coming’ spirit by bingeing through hours upon hours of great storytelling by its creators; David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

Hope you will love my favourite characters Tyrion Lannister and Jon Snow.

Empire

After watching Game of Thrones, how about you treat your mind to the power games, family drama and irresistible talent that makes Empire a must watch.

Undaunted by the Jussie Smollet saga, you have 80 episodes of uninterrupted nail-biting juice considering it aired first on Fox on February 26, 2015.

Be part of the millions of viewers worldwide who tune in to watch Lucious and Cookie Lyon wrestle for control of their conglomerate, Empire Entertainment.

The Walking Dead

I know, I know you are probably wondering why I am proposing a horror series on Easter. Truth is nothing beats a good storyline, trust me, and The Walking Dead serves just that.

It premiered on October 31, 2010, and was renewed by AMC for a tenth season early this year. Nine years running.

Based on a comic book series, the series centers on a post-apocalyptic world where Zombies have taken over and the remaining human population fight to survive.

Follow Rick Grimes and other survivors in their attempt to stay alive. An excellent gory story for horror diehards.

Captain Marvel

Welcome to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Captain Marvel hit the theatres on March 8, 2019, and grossed over $1 billion in ticket sales becoming the 18th Disney movie to do so.

Based in the 1990s, it follows Carol Danvers in her galactic war with Skrulls as she searches for her true identity

She is expected to star in the forthcoming Avengers: Endgame. Another hugely anticipated movie.

Did I mention that Samuel L. Jackson stars as Nick Furry an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D in Captain Marvel? Another reason to watch isn’t it!

Happy Easter!
