List of Kenyan artists performing at Magical Kenya Open

All eyes will be on the 2019 Magical Kenya Open Golf Championship as it tees off at the grand Karen Country Club this Friday, March 14.

A huge event in Kenya’s golfing calendar, the tournament will see some of the world’s crème de la crème battle it out in the competition that is offering an eyewatering Sh124 million as the top reward.

Kenyan musicians will be entertaining the crowd at the event and among those slated to perform include but not limited to June Gachui, Kaz Lucas, Nairobi Horns Project, Kendi Nkonge and Silayio.

June Gachui:

June Gachui is touted by many as one of Kenya’s biggest Jazz female artists.

She is among a few artists in the country who have shared a stage with American songbird Keri Hilson and crooner Bobby V.

An advocate of the High Court, Gachui’s debut album Twenty Years was billed as a game changer in Kenya’s music scene.

Kaz Lucas:

Famed for her stint at Tusker Project Fame, Kaz is an acclaimed musician whose versatility has seen her fan base grow over the years.

A performer in her own right, Kaz is also famous for hosting The Spread – a popular podcast on sex and positivity.

Nairobi Horns Project:

Nairobi Horns Project is a five-member band started by multi-instrumentalist Mackinlay Musembi.

Speaking to the Nation, the group stated that they aim to “serve humanity through our music” by ‘fusing sounds and adding elements of jazz’.

Mokua Rabai is on the saxophone, Victor Kinama is on the trombone, George Nyoro on keys, Moiza Basinze on bass, Amani Baya on drums, Jack Muguna on guitar and Kasiva Mutua on percussions.

Silayio:

Born Neema Ntalel, Silayio made history after she reached the finals of The Voice Holland.

The award-winning singer started out as a gospel musician before flying out to Europe.

Kendi Nkonge:

Nkonge is a multi-talented mellow-voiced singer emerging and setting the pace at the +254. She is a young soulful singer cum songwriter whose raw talent and passion can be felt sweetly in Kanisa Medley cover with Sahili Cover.

Others are Suzziah, Angie Gachui, Noel Nderitu, Ciano Maimba, Mannaseh Shalom, Daniel Chikwaza, David Hunter, Riki Gathariki and Chris Bittok.

Closing the show will be the South African super duo Mafikizolo.
