The question as to whether Diamond could settle in Kenya is at the top of the agenda (of entertainment pundits) for 2019.

Shunned at home but glorified in Kenya, Tanzania showbiz outfit Wasafi crew will hold the most-anticipated New Year concert in Nairobi tonight.

Together with Grammy-award winning Jamaican reggae band Morgan Heritage, the Diamond Platnumz led group - that has had friction encounters with the Tanzanian government - arrived in the country last week ready for the year ender show slated for Uhuru Gardens.

And despite the performance ban on some of its top stars, the Wasafi crew sounds upbeat about the Nairobi event that has already attracted thousands in ticket purchases.

Diamond will be accompanied by his leading Wasafi stable crew of Rayvanny, Queen Darlen, Mbosso and Lavalava during the concert.

Celebrated Kenyan acts Naiboi, Band Beca and Nadia Mukami are also listed as performers.

“We are excited to complete the year with an appreciation of Bongo, Reggae and Kenyan music.

The love and support we get from our Kenyan fans is immeasurable and we look forward to interacting with them.

“This has been a special year for my Kenyan fan base since I launched my album in the country back in March. I hope they will turn up in large numbers,” said Diamond who has collaborated with the Jamaican group in the hit single ‘Hallelujah’.

Ahead of the concert, the stars will address a press conference at Weston Hotel today at 10am.

A month ago, Tanzania banned Mwanza, the latest Diamond and Rayvanny collaboration, over moral issues.

This was after two other Diamond songs ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘Waka Waka’ were banned.

It was after this that the Tanzanian government gave a directive that the two musicians should not perform anywhere in or outside the country until further notice.

However, Diamond reached out to the relevant authorities and is said to have struck an agreement to soften the hard line stance.
