Woman bites off neighbour's forehead for 'stealing her husband'


A woman, 32 will spend the next three months at Kakamega Main Prison or part with Sh10,000 fine after she was found guilty of assault against a neighbour.

Patricia Ouma pleaded guilty of causing bodily harm to Mildred Akumu after she bit her forehead on suspicion that she was having an affair with her husband.

According to State Counsel Joan Tarus, the complainant, who was on her way home from a shop on August 13, was accosted by the accused, who who blamed her for trying to “steal” her husband.

Ms Tarus told the court that Ouma attacked the complainant and sunk her teeth in her forehead, demanding she stops fooling around with her husband.

During the 9.30pm attack, the complainant is said to have sustained a serious injury for which she was treated at Kakamega County Referral Hospital.

“The complainant was admitted at the hospital where she was stitched at the affected part of her forehead. She later reported the matter at Kakamega Central Police Station, where she was issued with a P3 from,” said the State Prosecutor.

When she appeared before Kakamega Resident Magistrate William Lopokoiyit, Ouma pleaded guilty to the charges, begging for leniency.

“Its true I attacked her but I am remorseful for my actions,” said Ms Ouma in her mitigation.

Her attempts to seek out of court settlement were opposed by the complainant who said she was not willing to reconcile.

“I don’t have anything to discus with her. My forehead and eye was affected and I am not willing to forgive her,” said Ms Akumu.

The magistrate ordered the accused to pay a fine of Sh10,000 or face three months imprisonment.
