Migori Governor Okoth Obado was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi where he denied murdering pregnant university student Sharon Otieno.

Obado pleaded not guilty to the murder charges against him and Justice Jessie Lessit ruled that he be remanded to Industrial Area Prison from where he will be produced in court tomorrow.

The judge also ruled that the Governor’s bail application be heard tomorrow at 2pm.

Lawyer Cliff Ombeta led a group of other lawyers representing the governor in seeking bail.

Sharon Otieno’s parents Melida Auma and Douglas Otieno, were present in the court room following the proceedings.

Obado is being charged alongside his Personal Assistants Michael Juma Oyamo and Caspal Obiero. Oyamo faces murder charges while Obiero faces same charges of abetting crime of murder.

Last week on Thursday, Directorate of Criminal Investigation boss George Kinoti ordered that Obado be detained at Gigiri Police Station on grounds that he could interfere with the investigations.
