‘Immoral’ activities prohibited at Nyege Nyege festival

Ugandan authorities have banned any form of ‘Immoral’ activities in the ongoing Nyege Nyege festival at Nile Discovery Beach in Njeru, Jinja.

According to local media, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Uganda Police and the organizers of the festival, Talent Africa, open sex, drugs use, acts of homosexuality, procession to and fro the event have all been banned.

It is reported that the State minister for Ethics and Integrity banned the festival for what he called promotion of immoral behavior in the country.

The event seeks to promote culture, local music and tourism. It was launched in 2015, attracting freestyle revelers from across the world.

Over 5,000 are expected to attend this year’s festival.

The festival closes On Monday,10th of September 2018
