The Government has released a statement on the kidnapping and murder of Sharon Otieno - a pregnant Rongo University student who was abducted on Monday with Nation Journalist Barrack Oduor.
In the statement, Government spokesman Erick Kiraithe stated that the State was looking into the matter with an aim of bringing the perpetrators to book.
He reiterated that the government was expediting investigations into the heinous crime noting that Oduor’s kidnapping was also being treated as attempted murder.
“As we mourn this untimely death, we take this opportunity to assure the public and the media fraternity in particular that this matter will be expeditiously investigated and the perpetrators of this heinous crime will be made to face the full force of the law,” read the statement in part.

Otieno, who was pursuing a degree in Medical Records and Information at Rongo, disappeared on Monday in Migori and was found dead and body dumped in the forest.
Oduor, however, escaped death by a whisker after he managed to jump out of the moving vehicle at Nyangweso market.
