How Sh18 million tax prevented Mike Okinyi from owning Victor Wanyama’s Benz

Citizen Tv sports anchor Mike Okinyi was so close to owning a Mercedes Benz owned by Kenya’s international Victor Mugubi Wanyama.

Speaking on JKL, Okinyi disclosed to the host, Jeff Koinange, that he had visited Wanyama while on an exchange programme in the UK where the football star was plying his trade for Southhampton.

Okinyi was given an exclusive tour around the city by Wanyama in his sleek Benz that he expalined was an out of the world experience.

"That Mercedes is on point, you guy,inapumua kama binadamu... Hio Mercedes kuliandaje bana?" Okinyi asked Wanyama.

Turning to Jeff, Wanyama explained that Okinyi let it go...

“Aliniambi ile yake imemtosha, alikua anasema nimpatie nitumie hio but sa venye tulikua hio exchange programme akasema hio yake ako sawa,” responded Wanyama.

“Jeff akuambii ukweli, wacha nikuambie ukweli, Jeff skia venye niliambiwa, hii unataka? Sawa chukua uende nayo uweke kwa meli wewe mwenyewe uichukue Mombasa, uendeshe Nairobi,” pointed out the anchor.

To which Jeff asked what his problem was... “Tax boss,” responded Okinyi.

“Si useme Victor amekupatia gift?” Asked Jeff.

“Hapaaaana sasa hio gift ndo wanatax zaidi, 18.5 million! We ungelipa hio?” The celebrated sport’s presenter fired back.

The Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder is currently on vacation and just jetted in from the iconic island of Zanzibar. He was accompanied by his brother McDonald Mariga to JKL.
