Congratulations! Tout who returned passenger’s Sh30,000 welcomes baby boy

Daniel Mwaura. Right: His wife Lucy in hospital with their bundle of joy baby Baraka

If there is a lesson to be learnt about Mwaura’s story is that, good deeds do not go unnoticed.

After he found a wad of cash and documents belonging to a passenger in a matatu plying the Gachie Nairobi route, Daniel Mwaura, the tout on board of the matatu did the unimaginable.

He took the items to his matatu Sacco for safe keeping asking one Joseph Muniu to direct anyone claiming ownership to him.

Upon realizing, the passenger went to Ganaki Sacco offices three days later to report his lost effects and to his surprise, the kindhearted tout returned all his cash and belongings intact.

This kind and unusual gesture made Mwaura an overnight celebrity and well wishers came bearing gifts and cash rewards.

Of those he received was a fully paid delivery package for his then expectant wife at the Nairobi hospital which charges Sh80,000 for normal delivery, Sh 100,000 for assisted delivery and Sh 160,000 for cesarean section delivery.

After 12 hours in hospital, Lucy welcomed a bouncing baby boy Baraka Gitari.

‘’Congratulations to the Mwauras! They welcomed a healthy baby boy yesterday at the Nairobi Hospital.’’ The Nairobi Hospital broke the news via their social media.
