Kakamega boy on the run after killing sister-in-law over firewood

The deceased had accused the boy, said to be under 18 years of age, of stealing her firewood

A boy in Kakamega is suspected of hitting his sister-in-law with a piece of wood and slashing her to death with a machete.

The deceased had accused the boy, said to be under 18 years of age, of stealing her firewood a matter that generated into a fight.

On hearing screams and struggle, mother-in-law to the deceased, Florence Ngasu, rushed to the scene and found the boy armed with a blood-stained machete and jembe.

She was rushed to the nearby St Mary’s Mukumu Hospital but passed away.

The deceased’s husband resides in Nairobi. Villagers said the suspect has been at the centre of many incidents ranging from rape, theft, bestiality among others.

OCPD Joseph Chebii confirmed that the suspect was still at large but that the police had launched a manhunt. “Police are looking for this suspect whom we have branded as dangerous because we don’t know if he can return at night and cause more problems to locals,” he said.
