Elected Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) in Kilifi have "gone missing" just two days before they take oath of office and elect the speaker of the county assembly.

Reports indicate the 53 MCAs are split into two camps, of almost equal number. Those seeking the speaker's post include immediate Kaloleni MP Gunga Mwinga and former speaker Jimmy Kahindi.

Jubilee Party did not win a single MCA seat while the Orange party won 50.

Additional reports indicate MCAs from rival camps are being hosted in different towns by lobbyists who have seized their cellphones in order to exercise maximum control over them.

Shella MCA Adamson Mwathethe yesterday said he had not heard from any of his colleagues and that their phones had been switched off.
