Two Cabinet Secretaries were yesterday hospitalised in a Nairobi hospital with cholera-like symptoms.
Treasury CS Henry Rotich (pictured) and his Industrialisation counterpart Adan Mohamed were among dozens of senior Government officials admitted to Nairobi Hospital and Kenyatta National Hospital after being taken ill.
The government officials were attending a trade forum at Kenyatta International Convention Centre when they were taken ill. A number of guests attending the forum were also taken ill.
Guests from Jacaranda Hotel in Westlands also fell ill in a suspected food poisoning case.
The two CSs were rushed to hospital in the afternoon after they reportedly experienced running stomach.
Director of Medical Services Jackson Kioko when contacted for comment said the two State officials are under observation but there is no cause for alarm. They doctors said the patients have been put in isolation.
By last evening, Mohammed had been discharged while Rotich who was admitted on Thursday evening was still undergoing treatment.
The hospital management however denied admitting the two.
In June this year, a group of doctors attending a conference at Weston Hotel in Nairobi were hospitalised after a cholera attack. The medics who ere attending a science conference at the hotel were hospitilised and at least 24 out of the 50 tests were confirmed positive for cholera
