Should I let my wife become an MCA this year?

By Uncle Ted | Wednesday, Jan 4th 2017 at 07:45

I am 44 years old and have been married for 20 years. Life has not been easy. I work as a lab assistant in a small secondary school while my wife runs a stall at the market. My meagre pay, which is irregular, barely carters for our needs because we have five school-going children.

Two years ago, however, my wife joined a community policing group. This has given her exposure. She spends a lot of time with mheshimiwa who has promised to nominate her as an MCA this year. Do you think this is a good idea?

I have bad news for you, Joram. You are between a rock and a very hard place. If your wife becomes an MCA and starts blowing the hundreds of thousands of shillings we read about in newspapers, you will only see her knickers hanging on the clothesline; if you are lucky. Chances of her moving out - with or without the kids - are very high.

Secondly, be reminded that politicians are an extremely selfish bunch. Mheshimiwa could be obtaining goods by false pretense. In the unlikely event that he actually gets her nominated, he will expect payment in kind. Get a cute, sexy 40-year-old mama to start warming the bench because I foresee trouble and ‘starvation’ ahead.
