In a recorded audio message in which Willy Paul urges Bahati, as a gospel minister, to change his ways this year, he subtly warns that he will not allow Bahati destroy his career by dragging his name in the mud and branding him a thief.

In the clip, which was circulated in various forums, the singer comes out to clear his name saying that the accusations are too much and that he has been silent for too long, but not anymore.

“I do not understand what I did wrong to him. This is very painful. This is a young boy I grew up with in the slums and now he’s trying to pull a brother down; it is not right.”

With regard to the particular song which Bahati claimed he had leaked to the public, he wonders why the Mama singer did not contact him.

“If it is true I leaked the song, why did he not call me, but instead went to the media? It was not the media that leaked the song,” he asks, questioning the motive behind that he saw as a publicity stunt.

“I even let him sleep on my bed after his first Groove Award win as I slept in the living room,” he reveals in the five-minute rant.

“I know I have been branded as the bad boy in gospel, and I have accepted it. But I guess God does not give you something you cannot handle.”
