Residents of Mugwathi village, Nakuru County, staged a rare protest last week, calling for the castration of their sub-chief whom they accused of being randy and overbearing. The locals expressed displeasure, saying enough was enough and urged higher authorities to intervene and neuter the chief’s greedy fascination for the forbidden fruit.

“We have had enough of this rogue leader. He has turned his office into a lodging,” yelled a protester. The government official, surnamed Waweru, has previously made headlines for all the wrong reasons. Men who confront him on suspicion that he is making passes at their wives or sleeping with them always find themselves between the hammer and the anvil.

One such man, who in fact prompted the protest, is reported to be currently nursing serious injuries, among them broken ribs, after he was allegedly clobbered silly by the chief and his ‘terror squad’. They waylaid him a long a dark alley and terrorised him, scoffing, “You should know people”. This was after he had had a confrontation with the administrator days earlier.

This led to demonstrations from angry residents seeking for the ouster of the chief. The demonstrations brought the area MP, Kimani Ngunjiri, and the MCA, Steve Kihara to the scene who asked locals not to take the law into their own hands and assured them action would be taken once investigations are done.

“While his Lanet Umoja II counterpart, Chief Francis Kariuki, is fighting crime in his area using social media, Chief Waweru is courting controversy of every kind, especially by having sexual escapades with other men’s wives. The best way to keep his libido in check is to castrate him,” shouted an angry protester.

One of the many allegations made against the administrator was that he has the guts to hold some of illicit rendezvous in his office.

“Sometimes, female guests take forever in his office as he keeps the rest waiting outside,” said a resident. During the height of the crackdown on second generation brews, the chief courted more controversy with his house-to-house search for bootleg liquor. He used the gimmick to prey on the women whose husbands were away from their homes.

In one incident, the chief is said to have found a woman taking a bath in a makeshift bathroom outside her house. Without saying much, he burst through the bathroom and began poking the naked woman with a swagger stick, demanding to know where she had hidden her illicit brews.

Ndodori Location Chief Mary Mutuku, who had been attracted by the rowdy protesters, would not comment on the allegations made against her colleague.

“The matter is with the seniors and they are looking into those allegations. I cannot comment on the issue at this time,” she said.
